18-19 October 2007 Welcome From the Convenor This year we are hosting the HR Benchmarking Conference in Sydney, New South Wales. This conference will bring together university HR practitioners from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and other Commonwealth nations to examine HR issues of the future and relevant strategies. In 2007, the program has attracted 48 universities, of which 36 are Australian and 12 are international (New Zealand, South Africa and the West Indies).
The objectives of this conference include:
Reviewing the process and results of the Universities’ HR Benchmarking Program; Sharing success stories with other participating universities; Exploring practical techniques and university specific case studies in workforce planning, succession planning and talent management; Developing best practice in utilising benchmarking data; and Discovering effective workforce management strategies. Our keynote speaker this year is the multiple award winner, John Taya from Main Roads Western Australia. This organisation was the Australian Human Resources Institute Award winner for Western Australia in 2003, 2004 and 2005, and an Australian HR award winner in 2006. John is an inspirational speaker and will share with you best practice in human resource strategy development and implementation with respect to attraction, retention and ageing strategies.
