The image of public sector workplaces as staid, bureaucratic and disorganized is dead and buried. Most public agencies invest more in creating dynamic and responsive workplaces, and in future workforce planning, than private companies. As the complexity and demand for standards of service delivery rise, agencies need to modify and develop their workforce in response to changing requirements. As human talent becomes more scarce competition to attract and retain intensifies. The pressure to build and develop human and organizational capacity to meet future challenges is immense. The implications are twofold:
ā Workforce strategy and planning must be more forward-looking, comprehensive, and responsive.
ā The onus of successfully workforce strategy and reform is placed on the shoulders of ALL senior managers. The challenge of shaping the workforce and workplace to meet new challenges is now a shared responsibility across all roles & functions ā both within departments & agencies and across federal, state and local levels of the public sector.
WHO WILL ATTEND L21 Public Sector Workforce Strategy & Planning 2007 will attract public servants from all three levels of government. The event is designed for all public servants involved in workforce planning & thinking within the organization. The general objective of the ICERI2008 is to promote international collaboration in the fields of Education and Research.
