Following on from the success of International Data Link Society 2005 Symposium held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Australian and New Zealand Chapter of the IDLSoc are delighted to send an open invitation for you to attend IDLS 2008. Once again the event will be held in the excellent venue of the Sydney Conference Centre from Tuesday 19 August - 21 August 2008 adjacent to the picturesque Darling Harbour.
The theme for the event is "Building Interoperability in a Global Context". With the demands and thirst for information within the operational environment increasing every day, the Symposium will represent a great opportunity to discuss the latest capabilities and challenges with experts from all over the world. Regardless of whether you are a novice introducing tactical data links into service or an experienced practitioner IDLS 2008 represents an ideal opportunity to exchange ideas.
There will be a comprehensive speaker programme that will deal with the latest vision, capabilities and operational experiences, complemented by an exhibition hall with stands demonstrating the latest equipment from a wide range of large and small defence suppliers. We will also welcome the latest technologies from the non-tactical environment and investigate ways that these communication systems can be used to support the swift and secure transmission of large packets of data.
"The 2008 International Data Link Symposium being held in Sydney from August 19-21 represents an opportunity for Australian Federal and State Agencies and Industry to interact with international participants working in the Tactical Data Link environment. The theme for the Symposium is "Building Interoperability in a Global Context" and provides the underlying theme within the program to investigate the challenges faced in achieving interoperability between coalition forces.
A feature of this year's event will be a scenario based demonstration highlighting interoperability challenges and solutions for military forces working with civil agencies in response to a national incident. This inclusion reflects the growing need for interagency interoperability in contemporary operations.
The Symposium provides a timely and valuable opportunity to discuss the important role tactical data links play in facilitating network enabled operations."
