The Australian Geothermal Energy Association (the industry representative body for Australian geothermal companies) and the Australian Geothermal Energy Group (representing the Australian geothermal energy community encompassing industry, academia and both State and Federal Government) jointly present the 2008 Australian Geothermal Energy Conference.
Interest in Australia’s geothermal energy potential has increased markedly over the last two years. The industry is growing rapidly with numerous private and publicly listed companies forming, increasing numbers of projects, and technological developments being made. Climate change and energy security are now recognised as key issues facing Australian society. Geothermal energy has the potential to provide Australia with low-emission base-load electricity for thousands of years.
The conference will bring together representatives of Australia’s entire multidisciplinary geothermal community to address key science, technology, policy and commercial issues facing the commercial development of the industry.
Held over three days, the 2008 Australian Geothermal Energy Conference will feature keynote addresses from international and national leaders in geothermal energy, as well as research and case study presentations providing all the latest information.
Day One, Wednesday 20 August, will provide an update of latest developments internationally, nationally and from leading companies in geothermal applications.
Day Two and Three, Thursday 21 and Friday 22 August, will provide extensive detail on all aspects of geothermal energy development, under the key themes of:
* ‘Above Ground Science and Technology’ * ‘Below Ground Science and Technology’ * ‘Legislation, Policy and Finance’ * ‘Power Supply and Transmission’
